OTHER INFORMATION FOR INCOMING STUDENTS

Dear Student, welcome to our Faculty!

We wish you enjoy your stay!

Please find information about procedures at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences/UC:

A - When you arrive in Coimbra, you must attend the Welcome Session appointed by the University’s Central Unit (DRI).

  For that you must register in one of the meetings offered in your Inforestudante. In    that meeting you will be registered at the UC and you will recive some documents      and information.

B – Appoint a visit with the Faculty's International Mobility Office 

     (ri-fpce@fpce.uc.pt):

  . to meet the Mobility Coordinator representatives and present yourself;

  . to confirm if your study plan remains possible. Check here.

C - Check the enrolment, registration and your class timetable in the menu           Schedules at your inforestudante.uc.pt;

  . Verify if you need to make changes to the Learning Agreement

  . If necessary, the Departmental Coordinator at the Faculty may help you to decide your final study plan.

D - Contact your Coordinator, at your home university, to ensure that the changes you are planning are accepted.

E - After making your final choice:

  . Come to FPCE-UC and inform the changes you need to do;

  . check if there are forms, also from your home university, that need to be filled in and proceed accordingly; 

  . send our forms, and the ones of your university, to your home university to be signed by your local Coordinator.

  . in a short notice, bring a copy of the document with the three signatures  to the FPCE-UC (or send them by email ri-fpce@fpce.uc.pt).

Please note that, if those documents are not delivered to us in due time, we won't be able to send your results in the end of your mobility.

F- Inforestudante - Here you will find all the information about classes, you will register for the exams, receive academic and administrative information, etc.

UC Student -  This is also a platform where you will have access to class materials, may contact with the Professors, etc.

G - Besides the meetings with our Central Unit, you will be invited for a Welcome Session, at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, where you will be introduced to your colleagues from the Students' Association from our Faculty.

Please Note!

. DEADLINE FOR CHANGES TO THE CURRICULAR PLAN: One month after the date of your registration at the University of Coimbra!

- Students must ensure that any changes to the original Learning Agreement are approved by their home university and by the University of Coimbra.

. CLASSES ARE OFFERED IN PORTUGUESE – However, a percentage of our scientific bibliography is in English. Also, many of our teachers agree to help ERASMUS / mobility students if needed.

. If you feel difficulties with the Portuguese Language, in the first day of classes, of  each course units you attend, you must talk with the teacher explaining that you are an ERASMUS / mobility student and asking if it is possible to be assessed in another language.

. Portuguese Language Courses – The University of Coimbra offers free Portuguese Language Courses for ERASMUS students during each semester. If you wish to attend one of these, you must apply for it and include it in your Learning Agreement. These course units are offered at the Faculdade de Letras (check  here the schedules for 2022/23. For other information see also Língua Portuguesa para ERASMUS)

. REGISTRATION IN PRACTICES:- If a specific curricular unit has practice components, you must register in one of them.

.You will do it in your Inforestudante, on a given day.

. The date to do this will be reported to you by email notification in your Inforestudante (in September for the 1st semester and in February for the 2nd semester course units). Usually, this registration period lasts only one day.

. After that date you will be subject to the surplus vacancies and you must contact the International Relations FPCE - SA FPCE for registration.

. ASSESSMENT:

- At the FPCE the curricular units can be assessed either by  Periodical Assessment (Avaliação Periódica) or by Final Assessment  (Avaliação Final).

. At the beginning of each semester, each Professor will inform the students about the evaluation process in that particular course unit (Periodical or Final).

. Periodical Assessment (Avaliação Periódica) – The assessement is carried out along the class period, according to the teachers’ information.

. Final Assessment (Avaliação Final) - The student will do a final exam at the end of the semester.

- Information about the Exams Calendar is available in your Inforestudante.

- Each student has 2 opportunities to be assessed in the curricular units:

 . Periodical Assessment / Final Exam (Regular Season) and Recovery Exam Season /Re-siting.

- Re-siting period - Students may use this season either if they fail before (Periodical Assessment / Final Exam (Regular Season)) or if they wish to improve their marks.

  This season may also be used as an alternative to the other assessment opportunities. In this case the student will only have one chance to pass the exam.

- Registration in the exams is compulsory and it is done in the Inforestudante.

. It is each student's responsibility to do this procedure on time: till 4 days before the day of the exam.

- The so called "Época Especial" is not available for Incoming  mobility students

BUDDY PROGRAM:


The Student’s Association of the Faculty, together with the Faculty’s Coordinator and the UC, prepared a Buddy Program, with students from the FPCE.

In this program, a student will support and assist you if needed, and will inform you about Coimbra, the student’s activities, festivities, etc.

This is an excellent opportunity to quickly integrate yourself into the Faculty’s students’ life in an easy and nice way.

If you are interested, when you receive a message informing you about this program, you simply have to follow the instructions given and register yourself.

Later on, you will be contacted by our students.

. BEFORE RETURNING HOME!

- Please check with the International Relations Office at the Faculty if your file is complete (changes to the initial study plan, etc.)

Don´t forget to go to DRI - Student's Hub to take the last documents (Documento de Partida)

. TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS!

- In due time, your Transcript of Records to your University by email.

- The  University of Coimbra does not send the Transcript of Records in paper.
