Conferências do CEIS20 no âmbito do Doutoramento em Estudos Contemporâneos (DEC)

Nos 100 anos da Marcha sobre Roma e no atual contexto de crescimento da extrema-direita, quando o conceito de fascismo tem sido objeto de novas discussões, importa refletir sobre esta temática. Nesse sentido, o CEIS20 organiza a participação online do historiador Roger Griffin que dinamizará uma sessão para estudantes, investigadores, professores de todos os níveis de ensino e demais público interessado, com o título Readings of Fascism.

A sessão terá a apresentação do investigador do CEIS20 Sérgio Neto e a moderação do vice-coordenador do CEIS20 Luís Trindade.

Roger Griffin (Oxford Brookes University) é amplamente reconhecido como um dos maiores especialistas mundiais na dinâmica sócio-histórica e ideológica do fascismo, bem como na relação com a modernidade da violência resultante de várias formas de fanatismo político ou religioso e, em particular, do terrorismo contemporâneo. A sua teoria do fascismo como forma revolucionária de ultranacionalismo impulsionado pelo mito "palingenético" tem tido grande impacto nos estudos fascistas comparativos desde meados da década de 1990.

CEIS20 Conferences in the framework of the PhD in Contemporary Studies (PhD CS)

On the 100th anniversary of the March on Rome, and in the current context of the growth of the far-right (when the concept of fascism has again been under strong scrutiny), it is worth reflecting on this key event in twentieth-century history. In this context, CEIS20 is organising the online participation of historian Roger Griffin, who will lead a session for students, researchers, teachers of all levels of education and other interested public, under the title Readings of Fascism.

The session will be presented by CEIS20 researcher Sérgio Neto and moderated by CEIS20 vice-coordinator Luís Trindade.

Roger Griffin is widely acknowledged as one of the world's leading experts of the socio-historical and ideological dynamics of fascism, as well as on the relationship between modernity and forms of violence stemming from different expression of political or religious fanaticism, and in particular contemporary terrorism. His theory of fascism as a revolutionary form of ultra-nationalism driven by ‘palingenetic’ myth has had a major impact on comparative fascist studies since the mid-1990s.
