Contará com as participações de Simon Connor (Australian National University), com a comunicação "Wildfires in Portugal – a long-term perspective"; e de Fantina Tedim (Universidade do Porto), que abordará "Rural fires: myths and challenges".

In the scope of the initiatives organized by the CEIS20 Research Groups, we highlight the event of Group 8 – Changing Landscapes. Long-term Lab.
The Online Winter Seminars – Discussing Long-Term Analysis, organized by CEIS20, set off for the last session of the year under the theme "Fire in History: social and environmental impacts".
It will have the participation of Simon Connor (Australian National University) with the communication entitled "Wildfires in Portugal – a long-term perspective"; and Fantina Tedim (University of Porto), who will address "Rural fires: myths and challenges".

Simon Connor is a senior researcher in the Archaeology and Natural History unit at the Australian National University. His research includes studies of air pollution history in Sydney, interactions between prehistoric cultures and vegetation in the Caucasus region, climatic change in the Balkans, forest disappearance along the Portuguese coastline, fire history in Mediterranean mountains, the creation of cultural landscapes in Tasmania's World Heritage Area, human impacts on island ecosystems, interactions between past fire and biodiversity change on the Iberian Peninsula, and early European impacts on the savannas of NW Australia.
Fantina Tedim is a geographer. Currently, she is Associate Professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Porto. She is the Scientific Coordinator of the Centre for Geography and Spatial Planning Studies. She is a member of the Expert Group for the evaluation of 2022 wildfires established by the Minister of Internal Affairs and an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction. She conducts research on extreme wildfires and on the social dimension of wildfires (before, during, and after the fires).
