Early Pharmacological Profiling by Live Cell Imaging
Biography
Prof. Dr. José M. Padrón is a native of Puerto de la Cruz (Canary Islands) and a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the Universidad de La Laguna (ULL, Canary Islands). He gained research experience at the Vrije Universiteit medisch centrum in Amsterdam (The Netherlands), DSM Research in Geleen (The Netherlands), and Deretil in Almería (Spain). He is Full Professor at the Organic Chemistry Department. He founded and leads the research group BioLab at the Instituto Universitario de Bio-Orgánica Antonio González (ULL). His research focuses on anticancer drugs, with a particular interest in hard to treat cancers. His research involves the early pharmacological profiling of small molecules with antiproliferative activity. At BioLab, he tries to shed light on the mechanism of action by studying the effects of the products at a molecular level. The ultimate goal is to identify the biological target(s) at which the active compound is directed.
