Objectives

This Group conducts research in the field of Communication Science. Considering the interdisciplinary matrix of the CEIS20, its research lines encompass the inputs provided by other scientific areas. The Group has set the following general goals: to conduct research in the field of Communication Sciences; to study the role of media and communication in the World of today; to understand how the practice and profession of Journalism works; to research the impact of media and journalism on the new forms of communication and organising the public sphere; to analyse the large debates on contemporaneity, while attempting to insert them into the context of the Portuguese public sphere; to understand the impacts of new technologies on society and the media; to research the ethical and regulatory assumptions of communication, media and contemporary journalism.
